FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

PREVIOUS CAMP BALANCE / CAMP FORWARDS: You CANNOT register online OR pay remaining balance online if you are using a forward from a previous camp. If you are using a forward from a previous camp, please e-mail kharris@ia.ua.edu prior to the camp or clinic filling up. Your camp balance does not reserve or hold your spot for future camps, so please keep in mind; you must still make all registration deadlines. You must also resubmit a copy of insurance card and current high school physical or signed doctor’s permission form.FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE WELCOME TO STAY AND WATCH CAMP AT ANY TIME!

CONFIRMATION EMAIL: You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours of registering online for camp. Be sure and check your junk box, as sometimes the confirmation e-mail can get lost there. Also, the e-mail address you listed on the application is where the confirmation e-mail will be sent, so please double check that the e-mail address is entered correctly before submitting camp registration form.

PAY REMAINING BALANCE INFORMATION: Remaining balance must be paid on-line by 11:59 PM CT on Monday, June 5th, 2017 You can pay your remaining balance anytime with your registration ID, by clicking on the "PAY BY BALANCE" button on the left side of the screen.

OVERNIGHT CAMPERS:  There will be up to 4 campers in a dorm room. Overnight campers are welcome to choose their roommates. The only way to guarantee roommate requests are if they are reciprocated. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE ROOMATE REQUESTED IS ENROLLED IN CAMP! If a camper does not make any roommate requests, we will assign them according to their age. Lastly, parents are not allowed to stay in the dorm. Please visit the "local area guide" on the left of the screen for a list of hotel recommendations.

COMMUTER CAMPERS: Expect camp to begin each day at approximately 9:15A. Expect camp to end each evening sometime between 9:15P and 10:00P. Know that this schedule does not apply to the first day of camp OR the last day of camp. Camp will end at 11:45A on the last day (Rhoads Stadium).  Commuter campers will be told each evening what time/where to meet the next day. A detailed camp itinerary will be e-mailed out a few days prior to camp. The file will be in a PDF format, so you can access it via your smart phone or tablet during camp. You will also have the opportunity to make a copy prior to arriving at camp. Parents/campers can check out the "typical day at summer camp" link on the left side of the page at any time.

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS: We have a very specific method in which we assign teams. In order to insure everyone plays their primary position at Rhoads Stadium, we have to follow this proven system. We will not be able to accommodate any requests for campers to be put on the same team.

CAMP CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT:

SESSION I

CAMP CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: Check-in will take place at Rhoads Stadium (softball indoor facility). We will take campers in order according to their camper type (Overnight/Commuter), which will allow overnight campers a little extra time to move-in to the dorm! Camp activities will take place after registration.

Overnight Camper - L 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Commuter Camper - 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

For whatever reason, if you are not able to arrive prior to registration ending, please e-mail kharris@ia.ua.edu so she can coordinate a modified registration time and possible location. Please do not email regarding a late check-in UNTIL the week of camp. If a camper is leaving early, please notify via email as well. Please do not email regarding a late check-out UNTIL the week of camp.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP CHECK LIST:

  • Shorts / Pants (Whatever the camper is more comfortable in.)
  • Socks
  • T-Shirts
  • Softball Glove
  • Catching Equipment (If You Are A Catcher)
  • Softball Bat
  • Helmet
  • Batting Gloves
  • Tennis Shoes / Cleats
  • Spending Money *See Camp Bank Explanation Below
  • Sunscreen
  • Swimming Suit / Towel
  • EVEN IF YOU HAVE ATTENDED PATRICK MURPHY SOFTBALL SCHOOL CAMPS IN THE PAST, WE WILL NEED NEW COPIES OF BOTH DOCUMENTS:
    • Copy of Insurance Card
    • Copy of High School Physical or Signed Doctor’s Permission Form
  • OVERNIGHT CAMPERS ONLY:
  • Alarm Clock
  • Bed Linens - TWIN BED

  • You can bring snacks, but we ask that you limit that. We will provide water and Gatorade in the lobby for when campers return at night and for breakfast in the morning.

FOOD & HOUSING: Overnight campers will eat breakfast in the Dorm from 8:30am-9:00am. All Campers will eat lunch and dinner at Rhoads Stadium. Overnight campers will reside in UA’s Dormitory (TBD) Each overnight camper must provide her own bed sheets, blankets, pillow, pillowcase, towel, toiletries, toilet paper and alarm clock. (The bed size is a twin). We kindly ask that campers with special dietary resctrictions keep that in mind when packing for camp. Meals are provided by: Chick fil-A, Arby's, Schlotzky's, Dickey's, Hoos Q and Panera Bread.

CAMP BANK: Our staff will run a camp bank, available to all campers to keep their money in, so campers do not have to keep up with their own money during the week. Campers will have the opportunity to purchase Official Patrick Murphy Softball School merchandise as well as buy drinks and pizzas after our night games. Any money left will be returned at check out. We strongly encourage all campers to use this service. Please bring small bills. Campers generally put anywhere from $20.00 and above in the camp bank.

SUPERVISION: Any serious violation of camp rules or regulations could result in immediate dismissal from camp with no refund.

YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING: Even if you have attended Patrick Murphy Softball School camps in the past, we will need NEW copies of both documents for EVERY PMSS camp attended:

  • Copy of Insurance Card
  • Copy of current school Physical Form (within 365 days of camp) or a signed Doctor’s Permission Form (http://www.alabamasoftballcamp.com/doctors-permission-form.cfm)

If you are using a forward from a previous camp, once registration has opened, please e-mail kharris@ia.ua.edu prior to the camp or clinic filling up. Your camp balance does not reserve or hold your spot for future camps, so please keep in mind; you must still make all registration deadlines. You must also resubmit a copy of insurance card and current high school physical or signed doctor’s permission form.

CAMP REFUND POLICY: In order to be compliant with NCAA rules, please understand that any payment you make towards camp is non-refundable. If for some reason a camper cannot attend, please inform Kate Harris (kharris@ia.ua.edu) two weeks prior to the camp or clinic date and we will gladly forward your camp balance to be used towards for a different Patrick Murphy Softball School Camp or clinic. Please note that this does not reserve or hold your spot, you must still meet registration deadlines. If the camp director is not notified two weeks prior to the camp or clinic date, no forward will occur. If an individual cannot attend due to a medical reason, please provide a doctor’s note to kharris@ia.ua.edu and the balance will be forwarded, if the cancellation is made prior to camp. Finally, no refunds or balance forwards will be issued upon expulsion or voluntary withdrawal from camp.

All camps are open to any and all entrants. (Limit only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).
